Advanced study courses in wind energy technology and management
Together with ForWind, the Centre for Wind Energy Research at the Universities of Oldenburg, Hanover and Bremen, WAB initiated the further education course "Wind Energy Technology and Management". The study concept was awarded the 2007 NordWest Award by Bremer Landesbank for its "demonstrably positive and identity-generating effect" and in 2009 by the initiative "Germany - Land of Ideas" as a "Selected Landmark 2010". The course has been successfully completed since autumn 2015.

New technologies and increasingly complex planning processes require a comprehensive understanding of wind energy projects - from technical, commercial and planning issues to legal issues. The study course Wind Energy Technology and Management optimally prepares students for the requirements: It conveys basic specialist knowledge, system understanding and key qualifications. In addition, it offers access to a reliable network of experts from business and science and creates a link to practice through project work during the course of studies - the planning of a wind farm.
Content
Wind potential, planning and construction, turbine concepts and mechanical engineering components, planning, energy and contract law, aerodynamics and rotor, load assumptions and dynamics, financing of wind energy projects, tower and foundation offshore, electrical system, electricity networks and grid integration, commercial management, technical operations management.
The study programme at a glance
- Part-time study, consisting of attendance and self-study phases
- Eleven months
- Certified Wind Energy Expert" university certificate from Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg after passing all exams and successfully participating in the seminars and project work.
- Presence phases in Oldenburg, Bremerhaven and Salzbergen (Fridays and Saturdays every 3-4 weeks). The exact dates can be found on the website.
- € 9.200 (The fee includes study scripts, further teaching materials, seminar documents as well as support by the speakers and coordinators. It allows participation in the attendance seminars and examinations and enables the use of the online learning environment and the network of experts and alumni. Travel and subsistence costs, board and lodging as well as additional work equipment (e.g. technical literature) are not included in the aforementioned fee.)
